August Alsina insists relationship with Will and Jada Smith ‘isn’t broken’

August Alsina insists that his relationship with Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith is “not broken”.

No Love hitmaker August, 27, sent shocks through the showbiz world when he sensationally claimed that he had been seeing 48-year-old Jada – which she later admitted to and dubbed an “entanglement” – for years after being introduced to the famous family by their son Jaden, 21.

The singer said that Will, 51, gave his blessing to the extra-marital relationship – something that the Smiths denied.

And now, August has revealed to PEOPLE that his friendship with the pair “isn’t broken” and told that “there is a lot of love” between the three.

He told the publication: “There’s a lot of love there. Sometimes truth is complicated and difficult. But [my relationship with them isn’t] broken at all.”

He also delved into his reasons for coming out with the bombshell.

August shared: “‘I never really cared about what people thought of me, but my personal life started to seep into my business life,’ he tells the outlet.

“There were certain falsities about me, and it affected my business relationships. I could understand why it would look like I’m reckless or disrespectful so it really started to affect my livelihood, and I’m never okay with that.”

He added that he was driven to come clean about his relationship with married Jada as he “has three kids to look after” – referring to his three nieces Chaylin, 14, Amaiya, 13, and 11-year-old Kayden – who he became the legal guardian of after his brother was shot in 2010 and their mother died from cancer in 2018.

After August’s massive bombshell about his and Jada’s affair, earlier this year, Will and Jada – who wed in 1997 – delved into their marriage on an episode of her Facebook show Red Table Talk.

During the discussion, Jada put to bed the idea that Will gave his permission for her and August to become sexual partners.

Will detailed how he and Jada came to the decision to part as they thought they were going to end their marriage, prior to her hooking up with August.

Jada embarked on a whirlwind romance four to four and a half years ago with August when she was going through “difficult times” with Will.

She said: “I wanted to feel good. It had been so long since I felt good. It was really a joy to just help heal somebody.”
