Ibiza Weekender star David Potts faces vicious homophobic abuse in the street

David Potts took to Twitter to slam the three grown men who hurled homophobic abuse at him in the street on Tuesday afternoon

Ibiza Weekender star David Potts revealed that he was abused in the street by three men on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old took to Twitter to slam the vicious verbal attack, which left him furious.

David questioned the attackers’ morals when he explained he was approached by three 40-something men who abused him for being gay.

Labelling the incident as ‘vile’, the reality star said he was glad to have been blessed with ‘thick skin’ and the ability to stand up for himself in such awful circumstances.

David penned: “How are we still in a world where abusing someone in the street because they are gay is still a thing?

“Three grown men about 40 years old have just been abusing me in the street calling me every name under the sun.

“It’s vile! Luckily I have thick skin and I can stand up for myself,” he fumed.

After he was flooded with praise and support from his loyal fanbase, the former Celebs Go Dating star said that he worries for the people who are also subjected to public abuse but feel unable to stand up for themselves.

“It’s the other people who that would of happened to and they are too scared to say anything back that worries me the most,” he explained.

“I don’t take s**t from anyone and they were walking away whilst shouting things. Grown me[n] tho. Absolutely pussies!”.

Fans rushed to share their admiration for David as they praised him for fighting back against the street bullies.

One Twitter user replied: “Grown men acting like children ! It’s sooo sad the world we live in today, glad you managed to stand your ground…. we love you.”

Another echoed: “There are some horrid people out there, but ignore them. You are beautiful inside and out.”

“Oh no so sorry David they are definitely in the minority most of us think you are fabulous,” wrote another reassuring follower.

While a fourth added: “Hope you’re okay, some seriously ignorant and nasty people around unfortunately.”

David’s unfortunate encounter comes after the star recently joined the lineup for the upcoming ITV2 series Celebrity Karaoke.

The new series features seven famous faces who will battle it out in a traditional karaoke setting, with challenges including head-to-heads, duets and group numbers.

Stars including Capital Radio’s Roman Kemp and Gogglebox sensation Scarlett Moffatt will dive head first into the competition, which is all about their love of karaoke and commanding a stage.
