X Factor’s Che Chesterman pays tribute to ‘amazing’ dad after tragic sudden death
The singer, who appeared on the ITV singing contest in 2015, has announced that his father Che Chesterman Senior has sadly died
X Factor star Che Chesterman has paid tribute to his “amazing” dad following his tragic death.
The singer, who appeared on the show in 2015, spoke out after his father, Che Chesterman Senior, died at age 45.
Che Senior, who worked as a groundsman, died on Wednesday afternoon after battling on life support for two weeks.
He had just released his own song one week before he was admitted to Basildon Hospital.
A Go Fund Me page has been started to raise funds for the heartbroken family, particularly Che Senior’s youngest child, Jorgie.
Dedicating his career to his dad, Che told the Basildon Echo : “We were very close. He taught me everything I know about music and is the reason I got into it in the first place.
“He loved singing and football – he was a major Arsenal fan. That, his partner Nancie and his five kids Jorgie, me, Grant, Jamie and Mark, were his world.
“He was such a family man and loved to do gigging every now and then – singing and writing was what he knew.
“When I was on X Factor and got my songs through for the live shows he would always ring me up to give me advice, and we’d practice together all the time.”
Che said his dad had stood by his side throughout his time in the competition and beyond, as he launched his music career.
“I dedicate my career to him, he is why I do what I do,” Che said.
Che, 24, said his dad had become ill very suddenly, with doctors believing he had suffered a stroke a while ago without anyone realising.
The family called an ambulance after Che Senior, a fellow singer, began suffering chest pains.
He was admitted to hospital where he spent two weeks on life support before the devastated family made the difficult decision to turn it off on Wednesday.
Che admitted he and his family had been left feeling “broken” by the tragic events.
The fundraising page, which has pulled in more than £1,000 of donations so far, reads: “It’s been a very long and painful 2 weeks and the fight he put up was unbelievable. Unfortunately his brain gave up and his beloved dad came to collect him.
“He was literally the most caring, strong, loyal, funny, emotional man you would ever meet! Che had struggles in life but He always managed to make others smile and laugh. His dry sense on humour was out of this world. Anyone who knew him was a very lucky person.
“Che’s partner Nancie and his children were his world! Him and Nancie had something so special that Not everyone will experience in their life time! True Love! They worshipped each other’s ground they walked on!
“Everyone is completely heart broken, it was very sudden and definitely not expected. He has left behind the most beautiful baby girl Jorgie who we are thankful she is so young, only 2 and a half years old and does not know really what’s happened. She will know her dad in time with the videos, and the singing will be drummed into her. She will never forget her dads voice that’s for sure!!
“I have set up this page for his baby daughter Jorgie. To buy her gifts and spoil her rotten in this sad time. Anything extra will be put away for her to have when the time is right.
“The pain will never go away, the sadness this has caused everyone in his family and friends is indescribable… he was such a big character and he will leave a massive hole in our hearts.
