Reading Festival: Crews build stage ahead of event
Festival-goers heading to Reading this Bank Holiday weekend are not impressed after it was announced The 1975 have replaced Rage Against The Machine.
The Los Angeles rock band were forced to cancel their forthcoming UK and European tour dates after frontman Zack de la Rocha was issued “medical guidance” after sustaining an on-stage injury last month.
The group had only returned to action just last month after an 11-year absence, kicking off a North American tour which had originally been due to start in March 2020.
“It is with great disappoint that we announce this cancellation,” the band said in their statement.

“Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation [following the New York shows]. The flights, travel time and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.
“We are sorry to all of our fans who have waited years to see us, and hope to Rage again soon.”
Rage Against The Machine were scheduled to headline Reading Festival on Sunday 28 August, but it will now be British band The 1975 instead.
