Rebekah Vardy in tears in first interview after Wagatha Christie trial

Rebekah Vardy has claimed “there was no acceptable olive branch” from Coleen Rooney amid reports Wayne Rooney ‘s wife tried to settle their Wagatha Christie saga out of court.

The footballer’s wife, 40, has referred to the suggestion that Coleen, 36, repeatedly tried to avoid their dispute making it to court as “the most ridiculous thing”, and recalled “hostile tones” being used in letters discussing a possible settlement.

A judge finally delivered their judgment on the Wagatha Christie case on Friday – giving Coleen the long-anticipated vindication over fellow WAG Rebekah, who sued her for libel after Coleen accused her of being behind leaked stories to the press.

Speaking in a statement after the judgment was delivered, Coleen said that she was “pleased” the ruling went in her favour, but that she “never believed” the case should have gone to court “at such expense in times of hardship for so many people when the money could have been far better spent helping others”.

Following a judge ruling Coleen’s now-infamous social media post in October 2019 to be “substantially true”, Rebekah has been discussing the devastating defeat with various media outlets.

Jamie Vardy’s wife broke down in tears during her first TV interview on Tuesday night, and revealed she’s ‘still suffering from PTSD’ as a result of the Wagatha Christie saga.

In an additional interview, the mum-of-five was presented with a number of explosive claims regarding the libel case and asked to declare them to be true of false.

She dubbed the suggestion she sat behind Coleen at the 2016 World Cup in a bid to be papped ‘false’, and admitted it was ‘true’ she likened arguing with Coleen to arguing with a pigeon.

The Sun also asked Rebekah if it was true or false that “Coleen repeatedly tried to settle out of court.

“Is that true and why didn’t you accept it?”

Rebekah’s response reads: “Sorry this is the most ridiculous thing. There was no acceptable olive branch whatsoever.

“And when you are reading the hostile tones of the letters there was clearly no settlement that was going to work.

“And if you include a settlement being ‘Accept you did it and drop hands’ then, you know that wasn’t my sort of settlement.”

There is no ‘true’ or ‘false’ answer attached to her reply to the question.

The Mirror has approached representatives for Coleen for comment.

Rebekah is reportedly set to pick up the brunt of the alleged £3 million legal costs after she lost her long-running High Court libel case last week.

But she insists the case had to happen despite Coleen’s views that the legal fees were an unnecessary expense.

The star says she has ‘no regrets’

But speaking to The Sun, mum-of-five Rebekah continues to claim she is innocent, and defiantly said: “I would do it all again tomorrow if I had to, because I am innocent. I have no regrets.”

She remains is adamant the judge “got it wrong” on this occasion and has opened up on the barrage of abuse she has faced due to the case.

Rebekah admitted: “The whole thing has been awful. At its worst, I was worried to be on my own, to leave the house. I was scared to be out in public places.
