EastEnders shares special Neighbours crossover to mark finale
Dr Karl Kennedy made a surprise appearance in a special sketch of EastEnders as UK audiences bid farewell to Neighbours.
Alan Fletcher, 65, popped into Bridge Street Cafe on the hunt for a cab to make a “speedy exit” – leaving Linda Carter and Whitney Dean speechless.
In the clip which was shared on the London-based soap’s socials, Linda exclaimed: “Isn’t it sad that Neighbours is about to have its final episode, I loved catching up with them all.
To her shock, Alan, who plays Neighbours veteran Karl Kennedy, walked into the cafe in search of a cab.

After whipping his face covering off, Whitney asked Alan: “You alright there mate, you look a bit lost?”
Flashing a smile, Alan asked: “Yeah I’m just looking for a black cab, apparently it’s the easiest way to make a swift exit from around here.”
“Yeah, Kats Cabs, it’s just around the corner – I’ll show you,” she said.
But before Alan could get through the door he was stopped by Linda who stated: “It’s Dr Karl Kennedy!” before screeching: “G’day!”

After exclaiming how much of a fan she was, Linda, who is played by Kellie Bright asked if she could have a selfie with Karl.
Whitney (Shona McGarthy) who rolled her eyes at Linda, was eventually dragged in to help her take the photo.
“Oh lovely, that’s really made my day! Thank you so much for all the memories and all the years, oh and will you send my love to Susan?”
The pair struggled to take a selfie, forcing Whitney to step in

Just as he was leaving, he added: “You’re lovely yourself you know!”
After he left the cafe, Linda exclaimed in an Australian accent: “Can you believe it? Dr Karl Kennedy in Walford.
Whitney managed to convince Linda that Alan was in fact just a look-a-like, before the screen cut to a message from the cast which read: “From everyone at EastEnders thank you for 37 wonderful soap years!”

The clip was then followed with messages from the cast who thanked the Aussie soap.
Alan joined the soap in 1994 and alongside his wife Susan Kennedy are Neighbour’s longest-serving characters.
They were parents to Mal, Libby and Billy and the family became favourites on the show.

Alan recently addressed his hair loss after fans were concerned about his health.
He explained that he lost his salt and pepper hair and stubble after a battle with alopecia areata.
On Instagram he said: “There’s been concern expressed on the web that I am unwell. I can assure you I am fit and well and very busy filming the last episodes of Neighbours EVER!

Neighbours came to an end after 37 years on TV despite fans petitioning for it to stay.
Channel 5, which broadcasts the show in the UK, announced earlier this year that it would cut its funding to pump more money into original UK dramas.
