As comedian Ellen DeGeneres tries to keep her talk show amid a barrage of controversy pushed by her staff over allegations of sexism and racism, she is starting to get some support in high places.
After pop music superstar Katy Perry came out to her defense, funnyman Kevin Hart decided to do the same. Some say those voices may be enough to change the current narrative and open the door for redemption.
Hart wrote on his Instagram page: “It’s crazy to see my friend go thru what she’s going thru publicly. I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the fucking planet. She has treated my family and my team with love and respect from day 1. The internet has become a crazy world of negativity….we are falling in love with peoples down fall. It’s honestly sad…When did we get here? I stand by the ones that I know and that I love. Looking forward to the future where we get back to loving one another….this hate shit has to stop. Hopefully it goes out of style soon….This post is not meant to disregard the feelings of others and their experiences….It’s simply to show what my experiences have been with my friend. Love you for life Ellen…”
The message of love and support did not sit well with everyone. One critic hit Hart with: “It’s crazy how people can speak on other people’s discrimination. Going back to a time where everyone can love one another. Did he even speak on Breonna Taylor?”
A second person slammed him for not speaking truth to power and added: “Now we’re seeing the elite come out and support one of their own instead of standing by the “victims.”
A DeGeneres backer claimed: “Y’all want to replace Ellen for what and who? Y’all know how much money Ellen gives to people who struggle daily? She brings them on her show and gives them amazing opportunities… I stand with her 🤷🏽♂️.”

A fourth comment read: “Please you people should stop….help with the investigation if you really know she’s sweet..people are different inside and outside and that is what people should understand…what about the people that spoke up 😒.”
The TV host has promised to be more careful when it comes to people around her.
