Billie Eilish is enjoying the fame and fortune that comes with being one of the world’s most successful musicians.

At just 20 years old, she is heading to Glastonbury for the second time and gracing the Pyramid Stage for the first, making her the youngest solo artist to do so.

However, what some fans may not realise is that Billie has long been living with Tourette’s syndrome, a condition she has called “very exhausting”.

Tourette’s can take many different forms, but it mainly boils down to uncontrollable tics such as facial spasms or verbal outbursts.

The young star has been honest about her condition, saying she “loves” talking about it to help others who are living with it.

Tourette’s typically starts at childhood and can take either mild or strong forms.

It is a condition that causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements calls tics.

This nervous system disorder can also cause blinking, shrugging shoulders and facial movements, but it is most commonly associated with loud verbal outbursts.

It can improve and completely go away for some people, but for others it can be a lifelong struggle.

When did Billie Eilish reveal she had Tourette’s?

Billie first openly spoke about her Tourette’s on David Letterman’s 2022 season of his Netflix series, My Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.

She said: “I actually really love answering questions about it because it’s very, very interesting and I am incredibly confused by it and I don’t get it.”

She revealed she was first diagnosed with the condition at the age of 11 after years of having minor tics throughout her childhood.

During Billie’s conversation with David, she explained: “I never, like, don’t tic at all because the main tics that I do constantly all day long are, like, I wiggle my ear back and forth and, like, raise my eyebrow and click my jaw and do that, and flex my arm here and flex this arm and flex these muscles.

“These are things you would never notice, like, if you’re just having a conversation with me. But for me, they’re very exhausting.”

Fans quickly made compilation videos on YouTube to try and find these tics she is referring too, something she later admitted was “low-key funny”.

She later clarified the situation on an Instagram post, writing: “I would love to get this straight so everyone can stop acting goofy.

“I have diagnosed Tourette’s.

“I’ve never mentioned it on the internet because nobody thinks I’m deadass, as well as, the fact that I’ve just never wanted people to think of Tourette’s every time they think of me.”
