Former Strictly Come Dancing stars James and Ola Jordan were over the moon when they welcomed their baby daughter in Febraury this year.

It had been a hard battle to become parents for the dancing duo, who needed to resort to IVF to fall pregnant with their baby girl.

Thankfully, it was successful on their first attempt and James and Ola are both besotted with tiny Ella.

And James has nothing but praise for wife Ola, who he says has taken to motherhood like “duck to water”.

The 42-year-old told The Sun: “When she grew up in Poland her sister, who’s quite a bit older than her, had a baby, so she has grown up around babies.

“I get a lot more stressed but she is so chilled. That’s why we work so well together.”

And while the couple could not be happier to finally be parents, they both admitted they delayed it for the sake of their careers.

Both were hugely popular as professional dancers on Strictly, with Ola winning the coveted Glitterball trophy in 2009.

And James has admitted their time on the hit BBC show meant it was impossible for them to consider having a fmaily.

He explained: “I would never have been able to lift Ola above my head if she was five months pregnant. That wouldn’t have been good for her or the baby.”

James has opened up about his struggles to start a family with wife, Ola

So, they pencilled in a time for starting a family for when they both left Strictly – James in 2013 and Ola in 2015.

However, the popular pair were in huge demand because of their massive fanbase and a raft of offers started pouring in now they were available.

James became one of the Celebrity Big brother housemates and had a very memorable time on the show.

Ola also wasn’t afraid to try her hand at reality TV and braved the I’m A Celeb jungle.

It meant their baby plans kept getting put back and when the couple did finally start to try they were met with disappointment for three long years.

The couple were delighted to welcome their bundle of joy

Devastated, they turned to IVF in their quest to become parents and just after James was crowned Dancing On Ice Champion at the start of 2019, he and Ola found out they were to become parents.

James admits they were “lucky” the IVF worked first time.

He added: “We have a beautiful baby and we are over the moon. If we had missed the boat I would be devastated.”

And the dancer admits if he and Ola had known how long and hard the struggle for them to become parents would be, they might not have waited so long.

James' father with his granddaughter, Ella

James said: “We have always focused on our careers, making money, having a nice house and car, but I’ve always been a saver. Neither of us are big spenders.

“I now feel like all the material things are not important.”

However, heartbreak followed Ella’s birth when James’ beloved father suffered devastating strokes and had to be rushed to hospital three times.

He has since been diagnosed with a incurable brain tumour and James was told his dad may only have a year to live.

James is determined to make the most of whatever time he has left with his beloved dad.
