Our Yorkshire Farm has been following the story and lives of the Owen family on Channel 5.

Despite their love appearing strong, Amanda Owen, 47, and her husband Clive, 68, are splitting after 22 years of marriage.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess made the announcement on Instagram to her 517,000 followers.

The presenter regularly updates her fans on all goings-on in the farm during and between seasons of their popular show.

She offers insights into what the family is up to in keeping their farm running, with their nine children often taking centre stage.

Clive has always remained absent from social media though, choosing to remain relatively private despite the cameras rolling on the farm.

Amanda and Clive’s split may come as a shock to long-time followers of the show, but the Ravenseat shepherdess announced their decision on social media.

Amanda wrote: “Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.

“This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.

“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and would ask the media please respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time.”

In a statement, a Channel 5 spokesperson said: “We respect the privacy of Amanda and Clive Owen at this time.

“They are very much a part of the Channel 5 family and we will continue to work with them in the future.”

The couple first met in 1995 with Clive being blown away by Amanda as soon as they crossed paths.

Clive was already running the Ravenseat Farm in North Yorkshire, with Amanda doing different jobs to get by at the time.

He was running his farm alone after a divorce from his first wife when Amanda stepped foot in the farm for the first time.

She was 21 years old at the time, while Clive was 42.

During Our Yorkshire Farm, Clive recalled the time he first laid eyes on her, saying: “I do remember this six-foot something woman knocked at the door – I was very taken with her. You couldn’t not be.”

For Amanda, the attraction was a much slower process, explaining: “It was a slow burn thing. We kind of got to know each other. We made friends first then went out a little bit together.

“With us both coming from non-farming backgrounds we were kind of peas in a pod really but we didn’t know that at the time.”

The pair certainly enjoyed their time together, as they now have nine children running around on the farm.

Six of the kids were actually born on the farm itself, simply because it was too far away from a hospital to get there in time.

Their children are Raven, 21; Reuben, 18; Miles, 16; Edith, 13; Violet, 11; Sidney, 10; Anna, eight; Clemmie, six, and Nancy, five.

Raven is now at university, while Reuben is studying to be a mechanic.

All the children helped out or continue to help out on the farm, making Ravenseat truly a family business.
