Lorraine Kelly has opened up on her fall-out with former colleague and politician Esther McVey.
The 61-year-old morning TV legend famously clashed with 53-year-old Esther last year when the MP was a guest on Good Morning Britain.
Piers Morgan had asked Lorraine if she recalled working with Esther on GMTV in the 1990s with the mild-mannered Scottish star claiming she couldn’t “remember” the ins and outs.
The exchange led to rumours of a decades long feud between the two – which Lorraine downplayed, however, she may have kicked the hornets nest again with a new interview.
During a joint interview with her 26-year-old daughter Rosie for Fabulous magazine, Lorraine explained that it takes a lot for her to become angry.
She said: “But when I’m annoyed, I’m annoyed. Everyone’s just trying to go about their lives, so I hate bigotry and bullying and you see that a lot online unfortunately.
“I just think that’s the kind of thing that would get me really, really angry.”
The star was then asked if ‘bigotry and bullying’ could be the reason behind her infamous spat with politician Esther last June.
Lifting the lid, Lorraine said: “She’d been quoted as saying some really terrible things, especially towards the LGBT community. I just thought: ‘Nah, you don’t do that’.”
She added: “Ann Widdecombe was the same. People shouldn’t be toxic. I just don’t get it.”
Esther has previously drawn criticism for her views over the teaching of LGBT relationships in schools.
Meanwhile, Lorraine may have forgotten to add Covidiots to her list of people that greatly anger her as she turned her fury to pop star Rita Ora and newsreader Kay Burley last week to blast them both for failing to adhere to Covid lockdown rules.
Last month, I Will Never Let You Down singer Rita… let herself down when she hosted an illegal 30th birthday party in the midst of an England-wide lockdown.
And she enraged fans further the following week when it emerged she had failed to adhere to Covid quarantine guidelines after jetting to Egypt to perform a gig.
Meanwhile, Sky News legend Kay sparked outrage last week when it emerged she – along with a string of other Sky News hosts and reporters – breached lockdown rules to go out celebrating her 60th birthday.
Kay broke the rule of six to have 10 guests at a dinner celebration at a central London club, then went to a second club after curfew, and later reportedly took friends home for further celebrations.
She has since been suspended from Sky for six months following an investigation by bosses at the network.
