Shaughna Phillips has spoken about an incident where blood ran down her legs rehearsing for the Real Full Monty On Ice.
The Love Island 2020 star, 26, underwent surgery on her calves in September to treat her lipodema.
The condition sees a build up of fat cells that can cause pain and cause cosmetic concerns.
Now Shaughna has explained how the surgery impacted her charity appearance on ITV’s Real Full Monty On Ice.
Speaking to The Sun, Shaughna revealed: “The first day of training I couldn’t get my foot into my boot.
“There was blood pouring down my laces. I was in so much pain.
“I was skating in my dad’s memory so there was no way I wasn’t going to do it. Plus I’m an Aries, it’s not in our blood to quit.”
The beauty also spoke of her “huge relief” she was to finally be diagnosed after a Love Island fan got in touch with her to ask if she had the condition.
She added of her legs: “They were my biggest insecurity. I have so much more confidence now.”
Shaughna says it will take some time for a full recovery but she is already pleased with the results of the surgery.
The reality star notes that she may need further treatment if the condition flares up if she gets pregnant.
The Love Island alum will be appearing on charity show The Real Full Monty On Ice which will see her take to the ice to skate – in the nude – to raise awareness for checking your body for signs of cancer.
Shaughna will be joined by the likes of The X Factor alum Jake Quickenden, fellow Love Island star Chris Hughes, former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon, and Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas.
Others taking part include Loose Women icon and Daily Mirror columnist Coleen Nolan, This Morning’s Dr Zoe Williams, and actress Linda Lusardi.
We can’t wait to see how this turns out!
The Real Full Monty On Ice airs on ITV on Monday and Tuesday at 9pm.
