Vernon Kay has revealed that he occupied his time during a lonely isolation period in Wales by chatting to a local farmer.

The 46-year-old television presenter, who came third in this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! admitted that it had been ‘really hard’ to get through the initial self-distancing period prior to entering Gwrych Castle.

The dad of two had been put up in a lavish farm house – fitted with its own gym and enormous garden – where he was left to his own devices before entering the ITV show.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning today, Vernon revealed that he was able to enjoy some daily conversations with a farmer in north Wales.

“I was on my own. There was myself and a security guard, and I saw the farmer every day. Nice guy,” Vernon told the ITV presenters.

“He would come and just stand outside, miles away, obviously socially distanced, and we just had a chat about stuff, and I would go running and then FaceTime the kids later on in the evening once they’d finish school.”

Addressing his self-isolation routine, Vernon admitted that it had been ‘tough’ to spend so much time alone.

He added: “That bit was quite tough but because I was on my own, it enabled me to prepare for what was to come apart from the cockroaches and the scorpions.”

Thankfully, the Family Fortunes star has now returned home and has been reunited with his wife Tess Daly and their two daughters Pheobe and Amber.

It came after Vernon narrowly missed out on being crowned this year’s champion in the I’m A Celebrity final.

This year’s title of Queen of the Castle was awarded to Giovanna Fletcher, with Jordan North coming in second place.

Just two days ago, Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess took to social media to express how excited she was upon her husband’s return home.

The blonde bombshell revealed that she had not seen Vernon for over five weeks and was happy to have him home for Christmas.
