Vernon Kay is being treated to a feast of sumptuous food since leaving Gwrych Castle where he finished third on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The 46-year-old TV presenter lost two-and-a-half stone in weight during his three week stay, and now wife Tess Daly, 51, is looking to feed him up again.
The Strictly Come Dancing host posted a photo on her Instagram Story of a homemade chicken soup she was serving up to her hubby, as she vowed to get some weight back on him.
Alongside the photo, the Tess wrote: “Chicken soup at bedtime… feeding him up”.
After Vernon and his fellow celebrities were forced to eat a diet of mainly rice and beans for much of their stay, this soup must be manna from heaven for his stomach.
Tess was an avid supporter of Vernon while his was in the castle, where he lost out to on the crown to author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher as he bid to become the first King of the Castle.
There was much joy when Vernon returned home, with Tess sharing her feelings on social media.
She wrote: “After almost 5 weeks away (2 and a half in isolation before going into the Castle) it’s so good to have him home ❤️ Now it’s time to get that Christmas tree up.”
The Family Fortunes host said that his time on the ITV show had left him feeling “drained”.
He said: “We were eating nothing but rice and beans. For the first two meals you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can do this’, then you realise every meal is bloody rice and beans. It’s awful. You’re so drained.
“The medic weighed us after the show and I’ve lost just over two and a half stone, and I haven’t got two and a half stone to lose.
“So you’re physically drained, you’re emotionally drained because you’re missing your family.”
Vernon and Tess have been married for 17 years and he said he was looking forward to getting back to their Buckinghamshire home and putting the weight back on over Christmas.
He continued: “We’re going to put the Christmas tree up and I’ve got a funny feeling there may be a bottle of champagne involved.
“Oh I’m going to enjoy putting that two and half stone back on.”
Vernon thanked Tess and his two children for their support and getting the votes in for him over social media.
He added: “Tess was just elated for me. I’ve seen what she’s done on social media and she’s worked her socks off for me, it’s amazing.”
