He’s roughed it for almost three weeks in I’m A Celebrity, but after tonight’s final, Jordan North will no doubt be looking forward to getting back to his home comforts.

But while his co-star Vernon Kay will be heading back to the sprawling country house he shares with wife Tess Daly and Giovanna Fletcher to her designer family home, Jordan will be returning to his humble London bachelor pad.

Despite having one of the most coveted jobs in radio as a regular on Radio 1, the Burnley-born star lives a remarkably humble life.

Low-key Jordan made himself a makeshift bar in his London flat

But while his flat might be small compared to those of his campmates, it also packs in everything a man could need – including a makeshift bar and a dining table for Jordan to eat his famous ‘picky teas’ on.

The 30 year old’s apartment even has it’s own small balcony, perfect for a beer and a packet of crisps at sunset.

Down-to-earth Jordan regularly keeps fans updated on his antics on Instagram, sharing pictures of his low budget dinners including turkey dinosaurs and pot noodle butties.

Radio 1 host Jordan has exquisite taste

When he’s not working – and the country isn’t lockdown – Jordan hits the park with his mates armed with beers and questions about whether it’s okay to take a pee in the bushes after a few.

He loves a pint of Guinness, bakes his friends cakes from boxes and spends time hanging out with his little nephews and his mum and dad, who live in Spain.

And every year he cracks out the same tiny Christmas tree which he festoons with wildly-placed lights.

As for his reason for joining I’m A Celebrity, for Jordan it’s not about fame or fortune – he just wants to be able to buy his mum a kitchen.

Speaking about his reasons for signing up to the notoriously grizzly ITV show, he previously said: “I’ve watched it since I was a kid. Plus, let’s be honest, 2020 has been a tough year for everyone. So, it’s something different.

“I had quite a six months during lockdown and if I’m honest, my mum wants a new kitchen. So I said, if all goes well, I’ll help her get a new kitchen.”

Jordan brings out the same tree every year

As a teenager, Jordan wanted only one thing – and that was to be on the radio.

He took part-time work for Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s own radio station before studying TV and Radio Production at the University of Sunderland, where he spent his free time working for the student station, Spark FM.

Jordan won Bauer Media’s Stars of 2011 competition and graduated with a gig doing overnights for Capital FM in the North East.

From there Jordan got promoted to weekends on Manchester’s Capital FM, and in the week he answered the phones at BBC’s 5Live – where he worked as co-star Victoria Derbyshire’s researcher.

In 2013, he was given the coveted breakfast slot on Bauer radio station 97.4 Rock FM – but he had his eye on yet bigger things – namely Radio 1.

Determined to put himself on the bosses’ radar, he recorded a demo and sent it off to the station.

And his smart move worked, with the BBC station taking him on as freelance in 2014 before giving him his current weekend show.
