Abby Dalton has passed away “following a long illness” her representative has confirmed. She was best known for Falcon Crest in a career in which she was Emmy nominated

Abby Dalton has passed away “following a long illness” at the age of 88.

The actress was best known for her role in Falcon Crest as well as being nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role by an Actor or Actress in a Series for her work on Hennesey, in 1961.

A representative for Abby confirmed she passed away on November 23, reports Deadline.

Abby’s career was revived in the 1980s when she starred as Julia Cumson in Falcon Crest from 1981.

The actress was born Gladys Marlene Wasden in August 1932 in Las Vegas.

She got her break on the big screen in Roger Corman movie Rock All Night, in 1957.

Abby’s major breakthrough role was Lt. Martha Hale, RN on Hennesey in 1959,

She played the title character, starring alongside Jackie Cooper for all 95 episodes over three seasons.

It was in this role that Abby earned her only Emmy nomination, in 1961, for Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role by an Actor or Actress in a Series.

From 1962 to 1965, Abby starred as Ellie Barnes on The Joey Bishop Show.

From 1981 to 1986, Abby relaunched her career after a fallow few years during the 1970s, as she played Julia Cumson in Falcon Crest, which proved to be a huge success.

She appeared in 98 episodes of the hit drama series during this time.

The actress is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack D. Smith, and their three children, Matthew, Kathleen and John.

She also has three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
