Piers Morgan slams ‘selfish’ Laurence Fox for bragging about breaking coronavirus rules

The actor, 42, came under fire from the Good Morning Britain host after boasting about ‘hugging’ and dining with a large group of people

Piers Morgan has has slammed Laurence Fox after the actor publicly bragged about breaking coronavirus lockdown rules.

The Good Morning Britain host branded Laurence ‘pathetically selfish’ after he admitted to inviting a group of pals over for lunch.

Outspoken Laurence, who describes himself as a ‘fierce liberal’, took to Twitter on Sunday to boast about his blatant disregard for the restrictions.

The dad, who was formerly married to actress Billie Piper, told his 255,000 followers that if the NHS couldn’t cope then it was not ‘fit for purpose’.

He penned: “Just had a large group over to lunch and we hugged and ate and talked and put the world to rights.

“It was lovely. You’ll never take that away from people.

“Stay out. Protect your rights.

“If the @nhs can’t cope, then the @nhs isn’t fit for purpose. Compliance is violence,” he shared.

The tweet caught the eye of 55-year-old Piers, who re-tweeted to his own followers along with a scathing diss.

“This is such a pathetically selfish kick in the teeth to everyone working in the NHS, many of whom have lost colleagues to the virus. Shame on you Laurence,” he fired.

Last month, Piers revealed that his parents had tested positive for coronavirus.

The presenter said that his mum Gabrielle and dad Vincent were ‘doing a lot better’ after their ‘brutal’ experience of the deadly bug.

Speaking about their ordeal on GMB he said: “My dad sensationally revealed last night, after three weeks of no sense of taste or smell, he finally tasted the salt in his meal.”

Piers previously said his family members had dropped like ‘dominoes’ after catching the virus from a person in their family bubble.

“I would just like to say something to my parents who are both battling covid and have been for two weeks.

“It’s a scary thing for a family when your elderly parents, my parents are both in their late 70s and got it two weeks ago from someone in a family bubble but someone who had to go out and was very sensible but got the virus.

“But then bang, it was like dominoes – boom, boom, boom. They had one lunch together and within three days both my mum and dad had Covid-19.

“It’s been a long two weeks for our family. It’s long for us because we can’t get in there, but incredibly long for my parents or for anyone that goes through this.”

Piers went on to say that he was struck by the “extraordinary” range of symptoms, including a high fever and back pain.
