Shane Richie’s son has swerved a question about changing his surname to support his dad while he’s in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle.

Shane Jnr, who has been known as Shane Nolan since 2017, was asked by a follower for the truth in reports he was going to change his name out of respect for his famous father.

The fan asked: “Potentially sensitive, but genuine intrigue… I’m sure when Shane went into #IAC you changed your name back to Richie. What’s the deal? @realshanerichie Is being AMAZING! He’s a true instigator in helping them all have a ball.”

Shane responded by not quite answering the question.

“Not sensitive at all. Appreciate the question,” he tweeted her, alongside a red love heart.

He then thought again and decided to correct the record, telling her he hadn’t changed his surname when his EastEnders star dad joined the cast of I’m A Celeb.

“No I didn’t, it was just a headline in a paper that everyone believed but it’s cool x,” he added.

Shane Jnr previously changed his name from Ritchie to Nolan in 2017 when his mum Coleen Nolan, 55, appeared on – and won – CelebrityBig Brother.

“I’m going to change my name to Shane Nolan to support my mum,” he announced while the Loose Women star entered the house, and Coleen broke down in tears when she was given the news.

Shane and Coleen share two sons, Shane Jnr, 31, and Jake, 28, from their rocky nine-year marriage.

They split in 1999 shortly before Shane landed the part of Alfie Moon on EastEnders.

Since going into the Welsh castle, Shane Jnr has been providing a running commentary on his dad’s antics on I’m A Celeb.

He told the Sunday Mirror that he’s been watching with bated breath, praying his dad doesn’t say something offensive on camera.

“My parents wear their heart on their sleeves,” he told us. “They say stuff without thinking.

“I get nervous about what my dad might say. At the end of the day, he’s a 90s comic.

“What they used to be able to get away with, the sexist comments, you can’t say that stuff.

“Not that he means it or believes it.

“But you just can’t say, ‘You all right love? What are you wearing?’ It’ll rub someone up the wrong way.”
