Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has been granted permission to attend the birth of their child after a judge reduced travel restrictions in place while he awaits trial in relation to sex offenses.
Music star Nicki, 37, is pregnant with her first ever child with 42-year-old music industry professional husband Kenneth, whom she wed last year.
However, the rap star was facing welcoming her bundle of joy into the world alone as her husband is currently awaiting trial following his arrest in March for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California.
According to TMZ, a judge has agreed to change the conditions of a pretrial release for Kenneth to allow him to travel with Nicki “periodically on business trips as her manager.”
The alteration is to ensure he can be present when the star goes in to labour.
However, other pretrial conditions will remain in place, meaning Kenneth can’t use illicit substances and will be forced to wear an ankle monitor.
Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995, for which he is required to register as a sex offender in California.
However, he failed to make the declaration when he moved to the west coast State to live with Grammy nominated star and was subsequently arrested.
He was released from jail on a $100,000 bond – but with strict rules on where he could travel.
Last year, Nicki shocked fans by announcing she was retiring from music to start a family.
She tweeted last September: “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me … Love you for LIFE.”
However, she quickly retracted the statement, telling a fan: “I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be.
