Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey has opened up about filming the second movie without her iconic co-star Patrick Swayze.

The 60-year-old actress – who played Baby Houseman in the 1987 classic – maintains that no-one will be able to replace Patrick in the upcoming sequel.

Jennifer’s latest interview comes months after film bosses announced plans to produce a Dirty Dancing 2 movie.

Speaking to People magazine, Jennifer admitted that while it won’t be the same without Patrick, there will be a different kind of magic in the latest instalment

“All I can say is there is no replacing anyone who’s passed—you never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that,” Jennifer told the publication.

“You just go for something different.”

Patrick was propelled to fame when he appeared alongside Jennifer in the 1987 hit film where he played dance instructor Johnny Castle.

The actor died at the age of 57 in 2009 after a year and a half long battle with cancer.

Although television bosses have kept the plans for Dirty Dancing 2 top secret, Jennifer is set to reprise her role and will also act as an executive producer.

During her interview with People, Jennifer also opened up about her thoughts on age.

Earlier this year, Jennifer celebrated her 60th birthday – but she suggested that age is more abstract than being a number.

“I really don’t give too much weight to chronological age, even though the world wants to tell you it means something,” she added.

“But to me, it’s as abstract and random as anything, because I know a million people who are very young who behave like they’re ancient.”

Jennifer went on to reflect upon her grandmother, who continued to dance and live independently until the age of 93.
