Ariana Grande is said to have paid tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller on her new album Positions.
Miller passed away in 2018 after an accidental overdose, aged just 26.
Now, Ariana fanatics are convinced the pop princess made sure to remember Mac on her new record with a subtle yet powerful message.
In the past, the 27-year-old songstress has found ways to insert Mac’s memory into her music to honour him.
It seems she did exactly that in her Positions title track, according to a TikToker with an impressive ear.
TikTok user Maralee Bell has theorised that Ariana’s inclusion of cricket sounds is a heartfelt nod to her late boyfriend.
The curious fan caused a commotion on social media when she pointed out that when Ariana sings the word “heaven” on at least two songs on the album, the sound of crickets can be heard at the same time.
The heart-dropping cricket sounds can be heard in Positions after Ariana sings the lyric “heaven sent you to me,” and it’s also present in her track called Just Like Magic when she sings “take my pen and write some love letters to heaven”.
This is likely a nod to Miller’s song Crickets, which was released earlier this year after his tragic 2018 death.
After discovering the powerful meaning of the otherwise random sound, fans rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One emotional user penned: “I just found out that in Ariana’s new album she plays cricket noises every time a line has the word heaven which is a tribute to Mac Miller’s song crickets because she thinks of him as her guardian angel.”
“She will always hold a special place in her heart for Mac, and this shows it,” another echoed.
While a third shared: “Crickets. That’s all I need to say. I’m crying!”
Ariana and Mac were love’s young dream when they dated from 2016 to 2018.
Just a few short months after they called it quits on their love story, Mac tragically passed away.
