Fiona Phillips furiously hits back at claims she ‘couldn’t stand’ Eamonn Holmes

Fiona Phillips wasted no time hitting back at trolls who claimed she “couldn’t stand” Eamonn Holmes.

Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford, both 60, were said to be devastated when they learnt they were being replaced by Alison Hammond, 45, and Dermot O’Leary, 47.

And Fiona – who is married to This Morning boss Martin Frizell – was not having any of the chatter from trolls who said she wasn’t a fan of Eamonn ever since the pair hosted GMTV together in 1997 for eight years.

At the time, the pair were dubbed the King and Queen of Breakfast Telly, but it seems as though some people questioned whether they were on good terms or not.

After one critic tweeted: “I think they couldn’t stand each other,” Fiona was quick to slam the gossip.

Fiona replied: “Utter b******s, but I guess you must know best, being a total stranger whom we’ve never ever set eyes upon, let alone shared confidences with…..”

Eamonn then joined in on the conversation, adding: “That’s my Partner ….. u tell him!”

As Eamonn and Ruth try to understand the reason behind ITV bosses’ decision to give their usual Friday slot to another duo, sources have claimed the married couple believe the decision was to do with their age.

An insider told OK! mag: “The viewers love them, but Eamonn has said to Ruth he wonders if it’s because they’re both 60 and too old.”

The source added: “It’s a real shame. Ruth and Eamonn are both telly legends – they’ve done it all, so it seems unfair.”

Eamonn and Ruth’s reps and a spokesperson for ITV declined to comment when approached by Mirror Online.
