Pregnant Emily Ratajkowski has hinted her modelling career will take a back seat once she becomes a mother.
The 29-year-old star is expecting her first ever child with 39-year-old film producer husband Sebastian Bear-McClard.
Emily – who shot to fame as a topless model in Robin Thicke’s controversial 2013 music video for Blurred Lines – suggested she fell pregnant as a consequence of lockdown.
The star – who has modelled for brands including The Kooples and Paco Rabanne – says her usually chaotic life of jetting around the world for work came to an abrupt pause due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
She told the Gurl Talk podcast: “I envisaged myself having kids much older, but lockdown was part of the reason this happened.
“Fashion is so demanding – it has to be your first priority and you have to be available for that big-money job, which makes it difficult to plan your life.
“I’ve disappointed loved ones many times by bailing on some-thing.
“I wasn’t used to being at home because I was getting on flights, which is a really cool life, but having a forced time of no work and no fear of missing out . . .”
Emily went on to suggest she will be taking a step back from the catwalks, billboards and magazine covers as she adjusts to a new life as a mother.
She said: “That doesn’t mean I’m giving up work, but it’s not going to be the only thing.”
Emily announced she was pregnant last month during an interview with Vogue magazine.
The model and actress married husband Sebastian in a surprise ceremony in 2018 after mere weeks of dating.
Emily previously said of her marriage in a 2018 interview: “We knew each other for a longtime before and he likes to joke like, ‘Yeah, everyone thinks we got married quickly but you vetted me for two years.’
“Women always know… I was always like ‘Okay, I probably shouldn’t hang out with that guy alone’ … and then next thing you know I’m at the courthouse getting married. It was secret for four hours.
“Weddings are amazing, I want to party, I want to celebrate love and relationships, but this was just for us and it was very nice.”
