Corrie’s Maureen Lipman considering cosmetic surgery but is ‘frightened to death’

EXCLUSIVE: Mauren Lipman, 74, is considering cosmetic surgery after she was left horrified by her appearance on a recent job for ITV

Corrie star Dame Maureen Lipman started thinking about having cosmetic surgery because, she claims, she’s started to look like a peregrine falcon.

But she’s “frightened to death” of the prospect of a botched job.

With a troublesome night’s sleep leaving her with “two sacks” under her eyes, Maureen 74, admits footage from a recent job for ITV – where “the lighting was unkind” – left her horrified.

“I thought: ‘My God, you’re growing to look like a peregrine falcon, Maureen, with a disproportionate beak,” she chirps.

“What can I do? Everyone’s having stuff injected into their faces… I’m frightened to death – I know what would happen.

“It would all coagulate in one place.”

Maureen – who has banned Corrie bosses from putting her in sex scenes by insisting her character Evelyn Plummer would never remove her vest – believes lockdown could mean she doesn’t get to attend an investiture to receive her Damehood in person from the royals.

“I don’t suppose I’ll get it,” she tells pal Twiggy’s Tea With Me podcast. “I expect Sophie the Duchess of Wessex will chuck it at me across Jo Allen’s.

“I can’t imagine the Queen is going to come out of lockdown for me and Mary Berry.

“I’ll be outside the Rover’s Return in a ridiculous hairstyle and she’ll be in Windsor, and that will be that.”
