Tom Parker has opened about the precious moment he held his newborn son in his arms for the first time.
It has been a year of incredible ups and downs for The Wanted singer, 32, and his family with brave Tom diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour back in July.
A month after Tom broke the news of his devastating health battle to stunned fans, he has welcomed his first son with wife Kelsey, 30.
Speaking in this week’s OK! magazine about the birth – which the pair said lasted just 30 minutes – proud dad Tom said he broke down in tears as soon as he laid eyes on his boy for the first time.
Recalling the moment he held his boy, Tom said: “It was so nice. I cried my eyes out!”
Tom and Kelsey, who are also parents to daughter Aurelia, also revealed the unique name they had chosen for their second born, Bodhi.
“Bodhi means enlightenment,” explained Kelsey. “So it just goes perfectly with our situation right now. He’s the light at the end of our tunnel.”
“Tom didn’t want the name,” she added. “I said, ‘Tom, I don’t care what you say – we’re having Bodhi and that’s it.’”
Tom and Kelsey’s happy baby news was first revealed by Max George in October.
During an appearance on the Lorraine Show, Max let slip the announcement as he spoke about his bandmate.
Max told host Lorraine Kelly: “I spoke to him yesterday and he’s doing good, he’s doing great.
“Kelsey gave birth to their second child last week. He’s a fighter, Tom will be alright.
“If you’re watching by the way, mwah, I love you all,” said Max.
Earlier this year, Tom opened up about his terminal brain cancer diagnosis for the first time on social media.
He said he realised “something was wrong” back in July.
Sharing a snap of himself with his wife and 16-month-old daughter, he revealed the news to his fans and said: “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.
“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.
“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.
“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.
