Demi Lovato has spoken of her sadness at how close the US presidential election 2020 race has been.
As votes continue to be counted across the country, the race is almost too close to call between incumbent president Donald Trump and Democratic hopeful Joe Biden.
So far, Joe Biden is leading in the electoral collage votes – however there are still several swing states left to declare.
Sharing her thoughts about the nail-biting election, the 28-year-old singer expressed her surprise at what she expected “should have been a landslide.”
Despite her concerns, the brunette bombshell has vowed not to give up remaining hopeful for the results.
“Kind of terribly sad how close this election was,” Demi wrote to her 55.5 million Twitter followers.
“After this year and especially this summer it should’ve been a landslide. I don’t get it. Truly.”
In a second tweet just minutes later, she then admitted that she was feeling disappointed at the results so far.
“I’m not losing hope. My faith is strong. Just very disappointed at how close this is. Like…. really y’all?”
Several of Demi’s voters also took to the comment section to express their surprise at the close results.
“You have thought the loss of 230,000 Americans would have impacted others. It breaks my heart,” penned one fan.
Demi’s recent response to the 2020 presidential election results came just weeks after the songstress released a new tune in which she took direct aim at Donald Trump.
Her new song Commander in Chief – that was debuted at the Billboard Music Awards – is a staunch protest against the sitting president.
The heartfelt tune features emotional lyrics such as ‘Commander in Chief, honestly/ If I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep/ Seriously, do you even know the truth?’
The lyrics continue: ‘We’re in a state of crisis, people are dying/ While you line your pockets deep/ Commander in Chief/ How does it feel to still be able to breathe?’
Demi is one of a growing list of celebrities that have thrown their support behind Joe Biden and urged their followers to vote for change.
