Piers Morgan fumes that Boris Johnson ‘has to go’ ahead of lockdown announcement

Piers Morgan has blasted Boris Johnson and says that he “has to go.”

The Good Morning Britain star, 55, took to Twitter to hit out at the Prime Minister and dubbed him an “absolute shambles” and “rudderless” leader ahead of him starring on TV to brief the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement – which has was supposed to be at 4pm but was been pushed back every hour until 7pm- is expected to be when Boris tells the UK that they will enter into a second nationwide lockdown.

Proving that Piers believes that Boris is untrustworthy and unable to lead the country, he tweeted on Saturday night: “Boris Johnson has to go. Britain can’t endure any more of his rudderless leadership.

“U-turn after U-turn, mixed message after mixed message, failure after failure. He’s been an absolute shambles in this pandemic & we desperately need a PM we can trust & who knows how to lead.”

Piers has openly criticised Boris throughout the pandemic amid the PM has boycotting appearing on ITV’s GMB.

In September Piers called the government “gutless weasels” as he slammed Boris after he made comments on the free press.

Responding to the Extinction Rebellion attempts to shut down the British press back in September Boris tweeted that “free press is vital.”

Piers sarcastically said as he dissected the tweet: “It’s great. Here’s what Boris tweeted – it really moved me – ‘A free press is vital in holding the government and other powerful institutions to account on issues critical for the future of our country, including the fight against climate change.

“‘It is completely unacceptable to seek to limit the public’s access to news in this way.'”

Piers added: “I couldn’t agree more, Boris! It’s completely unacceptable to limit the public’s access to news, particularly for news critical to the future of our country! Like Covid-19, for example. Also, a free press is vital! I agree with you! I so agree with you!”

“Answering all the critical questions,” Susanna wryly remarked.

Piers continued to address the prime minister: “Is this the moment to remind you, we have a little day counter?

“We’re going to put this on the desk now – it’s been 132 days since you – the same prime minister who really feels it’s vital to count, particularly on issues critical for the future of this country.

“It’s been 132 days since you launched a blockade of Good Morning Britain. You! The prime minister, Boris Johnson.”
