When it comes to finding Mr Right, Roman Kemp reckons you won’t find a more shining example than his Spandau Ballet dad.

And the Capital FM DJ and telly star admits he has really high expectations from his own relationships – because his father Martin’s marriage to mum Shirlie Holliman is pure Gold.

Roman, 27, says it’s hard for women like his single sister Harley, 31, to find “genuine” men.

He said: “She will always tell me, ‘I’m fine on my own.’

“But I know it’s because she looks at someone like my dad – who is an amazing father and husband.

“And she is almost holding out for that, which is rightly so.

“he should.”

He added: “I’ve learnt so much from my dad and my mum in how I want to be in a relationship.

“I want a family and all of those types of things.

“My sister wants those things, but it’s tougher for girls to find guys that are genuine and are going to love you as much as you should be loved.”

Martin, 59, shot to fame in the 1980s with Spandau Ballet, whose hits include Gold and True.

He has been married to Shirlie, 58, of Pepsi and Shirlie pop group fame, for 32 years.

Roman split with his girlfriend of three years, neuroscientist Anne-Sophie Flury, in July.

He said: “Like everyone else I’ve had a horrible year.

“But it’s just one of those, ‘Let’s get through it and move on’.”

He has been keeping himself busy working with his dad.

The pair, who co-hosted Martin And Roman’s Sunday Best on ITV in the summer, have signed up with Specsavers to launch their Something To Smile About campaign.

One thing that always makes Roman smile is the festive hit Last Christmas, by his late godfather George “Yog” Michael, who died in 2016.

Roman said: “With Yog we have so many amazing memories.
