It’s no secret that with an estimated net worth of £695million, Kim Kardashian lives a life of luxury that’s unimaginable to most.

But the reality star has really copped it from the public over her latest Instagram post which bragged about her luxurious 40th birthday beach holiday amid a global pandemic.

While Kim gushed that she felt ‘so humbled and blessed’ after holidaying on a private island with her closest friends, her fans were not so impressed, accusing her of being ‘obnoxious’ and ‘tone deaf’.

“Why post this obnoxious tweet about how much fun you’re having when people are truly struggling with job loses and fighting the virus, losing loved ones?” questioned one outraged Twitter user.

“Completely insensitive and short sighted, and incredibly self centered.”

It came after Kim uploaded a selection of glamorous images from the exclusive escape which showed friends and family from numerous households hugging and kissing – without a mask in sight.

And Kim’s explanation for the lack of social distancing only served to annoy fans more when she revealed guests had been ordered to quarantine for two weeks beforehand.

She wrote: “Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.

“After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.”

But not everyone was in agreement.

“Very selfish when people are dying and loosing their jobs,” one follower wrote on Instagram.

“Because it is so far out of reach, maybe you should have kept this trip private. But gotta flaunt it right??” added another.

There wasn't a mask in sight

A third joined a chorus of voices taking objection to Kim’s definition of travel as a ‘simple luxury’.

“Lol travel is not a ‘simple’ luxury,” wrote the commenter.

“Most of us can’t even afford it. Most of won’t be able to see our families for the unforeseen future or never again because they have passed away due to global pandemic but please, go off and flaunt your insane privilege.”

So what went on at Kim’s exclusive extravaganza? Her brother Rob Kardashian, 33, made a rare appearance while Khloe Kardashian, 36, made her reunion with baby daddy Tristan Thompson official.

Scott Disick joined the party with son Mason

Despite no longer being with Kourtney Kardashian, 41, Scott Disick was invited along for the ride with their three children.

And Kim painted an idyllic picture for her fuming fans of all the fun that was had.

“We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more,” she rhapsodized.

“I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is.”

Quite.

There was one person seemingly missing from the celebration though, and that was Kim’s husband Kanye West, 43.

The rapper didn’t feature in any of the photos that made Kim’s final cut sparking much confusion.
