Celebs Go Dating’s Pete Wicks spills truth about Shaughna Phillips ‘romance’
EXCLUSIVE: The TOWIE hunk was reportedly growing close to Love Island star Shaughna, but he’s set the record straight about what’s going on between them
Pete Wicks has spilled the truth about his rumoured romance with Shaughna Phillips.
The TOWIE hunk, 31, was reported to be growing close to the Love Island star, 25, during filming for the new series of Celebs Go Virtual Dating.
But the handsome reality star set the record straight during an exclusive chat with Mirror Online.
When asked what was going on between them, Pete told us: “Do you know what it is, I can’t even say hello to a woman without someone thinking that there’s something going on.
“Shaughna’s a really nice girl but there’s definitely no truth in that. She’s a nice girl that’s come out of Love Island, she’s single, I’m single, we’re doing the same sort of thing, working together and people have just jumped the gun but there’s definitely no truth in that whatsoever.”
Pete joked that while everyone was focusing on him and Shaughna, they missed his real celebrity connection with rugby player and Celebrity X Factor star Levi Davis.
The single stud laughed: “If you’d asked me about Levi, there’s a little bit of truth in that. F**k Sam Thompson, who needs him when you’ve got Levi Davis.”
Pete has looked for love with the help of the Celebrity Dating Agency before, but is back for another crack at it with the help of experts Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson, and trusty receptionist Tom Read Wilson.
Things are a lot different this time around though, with stars taking part in video calls and socially distanced dates with their matches.

And it’s proven a little tricky for Pete.
He said: “It’s so different this time, it’s been good. It’s an opportunity to learn new dating skills you never knew you had, I didn’t really have many to begin with so for me it’s been good.
“I’ve enjoyed it, I can always do with Anna and Paul in my life telling me what I’m doing wrong because there’s a lot I’m doing wrong. Any decision in my life, I’m just going to message Paul and ask ‘what would Paul do?’
“I’m nearly 32 and I’ve been single a lot of my life so I’m always doing the same old things when it comes to dating, whatever it may be, but it’s quite easy on an online date to forget it’s a date and to not take it seriously.
“I got dressed up for every date and got myself in the right frame of mine, nice shirt on, fresh shoes, bit of chewing gum, job done, I’m ready for the date even though you’re only seeing them over a video call. You’ve got to look your best.”
He added: “I don’t really get nervous on normal dates, I feel like it’s been more pressure this time than last because I’m a lot better in person.
“It’s easier in person to get a feel for someone, I thought it would be really hard to get a connection with someone when you’re just talking on a video chat because you can’t tell their mannerisms or feel their energy, it’s a lot more difficult.
“I found it hard the first time I did it. I’m a complete technophobe as well, I’m like an old man trapped in an even older man’s body so actually trying to landscape this new world where people talk over the internet has been very difficult, I like people to be in front of me.”
