Brooke Shields, 55, says daughters taught her how to love her ‘curvy’ bikini body
Blue Lagoon actress Brooke Shields says she used to wear ‘huge’ bathing suits which covered as much skin as possible before her daughters taught her how to love her body
Brooke Shields has insisted that she won’t stop flaunting her body in a bikini just because she’s over 50 – and it’s all thanks to her daughters.
The Blue Lagoon starlet, 55, has shared an important message with her fans by declaring that women over a certain age ‘are not done’.
The talented Hollywood actress is on a mission to highlight that women of all age groups deserve to flaunt their bodies and wear whatever they please regardless of their age or body shape.
Brooke admitted that before she had an epiphany about her beach body, she wore ‘huge’ bathing suits which covered as much skin as possible.
That was until her precious daughters questioned why their mum wasn’t showing off her incredible, age-defying figure.
The proud mum-of-two told People : “I was wearing those big bathing suits that had as much fabric as possible. My daughters were like, ‘Mom, it’s ridiculous.’
“It was sort of seeing myself through their eyes and just celebrating things like my butt. Things I just would never want to focus on in my life. Being 55 and saying ‘Wait a minute, women over 50 are not done.'”
She continued: “If you’re that age, especially if you are an actress, it’s like ‘you’ve had your career, relax,’ but I think I’m just starting.”
Brooke who shares daughters, Rowan, 17 and Grier, 14, with husband Chris Henchy used lockdown as an opportunity to spread body positivity among her fans as she decided to share her daily workouts on Instagram.
During the candid chat with People, The Endless Love actress admitted that she’s learned a lot about her body over lockdown.
The stunning star, who describes herself as ‘curvy’ always saw it as a negative before her daughters made her look at her figure in a different perspective.
Brooke told: “My daughters say I’m curvy. To them curvy is different. I watch them celebrate it. I’m learning from them and they always say you’re better off with something that shows your body rather than a muumuu.”
