Spooky season is here, on both clients of World of Warcraft! We already discussed the Classic version of the Hallow’s End event, which you can read about here, and now we’re here to discuss the Retail version active on the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands client.
Compared between the two, the holidays are barely recognizable because of how much more there is to worry about with the modern version of Hallow’s End. There’s a great amount more to do, so let’s get right into it!
The first thing you’ll notice is the favorite Halloween activity, trick or treating! This is similar to the Classic version, but you can do it much more often, going to any Candy Bucket in an Inn to grab a handful of treats.
One of the first thing you may want to grab as soon as possible, if you’re leveling characters up until the launch of Shadowlands proper, is the experience buff in capital cities. Players have access to a 10% experience buff, which goes far with the new leveling system.
To grab this, run to the Wickerman outside of your faction’s event – Undercity for Horde, Stormwind for Alliance – and click on the ashes nearby. This only works on killing mobs, unfortunately, but is still a considerable buff. You’ll also gain a 10% reputation bonus.
The OP Burning Crusade gems have been hotfixed! They now give two of each stat, down from 5/4. #Warcrafthttps://t.co/cfCslhmZuY

If you want to try your luck, you can always go and take down the Headless Horseman himself using the Dungeon Finder. This provides a relatively-easy and quick dungeon to grab some fast experience for a leveling character.
At levels 45 and up, though, the Horseman drops an epic version of the Loot-Filled Pumpkin. This has a chance to contain the Horseman’s Reins, granting his rare and highly sought-after mount.
The Horseman also drops a bit of gear – a great helmet, a powerful sword, and a ring. There are a few more things, depending on your level, everything scaling to be accurate to your level, so it’s difficult to give the exact stats.
Of course, there are also 21 achievements you can grab, as well as the achievement to grab the Hallowed title. If you’re after the meta-achievement for completing all the major holidays, make sure you grab this, or it’ll be a whole year until you can do it again!
There’s plenty more on your plate – Garrison decorations, costumes, and buffs from candy – but these are the essentials. Make sure you get out there and start running the Horseman down as soon as possible if you’re after the mount!
