Lola Lennox has opened up about carving out a singing career in the shadow of her music icon mother Annie Lennox.
The 29-year-old singer, songwriter and model is the daughter of 64-year-old Eurythmics legend Annie and 65-year-old film producer Uri Fruchtmann.
Lola has this year started releasing her own music with her debut single released back in February – and her brand new single, Back at Wrong, released on Friday.
However, unleashing music onto the charts hasn’t come without the slight concern of being in the shadow of her Brit, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Oscar winning, chart-topping mother.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Lola explained: “When I was younger I was intimidated by how high the bar was set by my mum.
“I didn’t feel good enough for a long time. Some notes we hit sound similar, it’s just DNA.”
However, the chart hopeful has been given some help from Annie – who co-produced the new single, and has been advising the powerful singer on her career.
Lola explained: “Mum encouraged me not to be swayed by industry people who want to oversexualise me.”
She also joked she would consider establishing a new version of the Eurthymics along with Dave Stewart’s kids, who are also musicians, saying: “I’d be open to chatting about it, they’re very talented.”
Highlighting her song on Instagram on Friday when it was released, Lola encouraged followers to “dance and sing along to this song”.
The track is also co-produced by Lola’s boyfriend, model Braeden Wright.
Meanwhile Annie herself has been plugging the new tune via social media.
