Katie Piper has shared an update with her loyal followers after undergoing eye surgery.

The TV star and author, 37, took to Instagram to share a number of snaps from her hospital bed on Friday.

Following the operation, which came as a result of a sulphuric acid attack in 2008, Katie’s spokesperson ensured her worried fans the star is feeling strong and well despite the circumstances.

Speaking to Mail Online, the rep explained the proud mum is nearing her 400th operation since the horrific acid attack which occurred 12 years ago.

“Katie is nearing her 400th operation now but she is being as brave as ever whilst in hospital for her current procedure.

“The eye is healing well, and Katie remains positive about the future and cannot thank the incredible eye surgeon and team enough for their work for their ongoing restoration and preservation of her sight in her ‘good eye’.”

They continued: “The operation was a skin graft to her upper eyelid using skin from her left arm.

“She is currently resting to minimise the threat of infection and to ensure a quick recovery. Katie thanks everyone for their care and warm wishes.”

Katie is blind in her left eye as a result of the attack, however, due to complications, she was forced to undergo an operation on her healthy eye earlier this week.

The brave star went into hospital to prepare for the invasive operation on her 37th birthday.

Earlier this week, following the operation, Katie ensured fans that she was feeling good.

Taking to her Instagram to share a snap from her hospital bed, she penned: “Thanks for all your messages.

“I’m in hospital recovering from my recent eye operation, everything went well.”
