Danny Dyer breaks silence on daughter’s pregnancy as he becomes grandad at 43
Danny Dyer has finally spoken out about his daughter Dani being pregnant – and he joked he ‘knew what she was up to during lockdown’ in their latest podcast
He banned his daughter from making him a grandad before he was 40… now 43 and about to be a grandfather Danny Dyer jokes: “I know what my Dani was up to in lockdown.”
At least the family’s new addition gives him a good excuse for going grey, he admits.
Berating Love Islander Dani, 24, for “keeping busy” during lockdown by getting pregnant “instead of reading poetry, building Lego, or doing something creative”, Danny probes his daughter: “Was that your whole motivation for getting pregnant? You’ve been not really having sex because you’ve thought, ‘I’ll wait til my dad’s 40’?”
Horrified on the pair’s Sorted podcast, Dani responded: “I’m not talking about my sex life!”
Danny (senior) says he “can’t complain” about becoming a grandad so young, as he made his own parents grandparents aged 40 – hence his deadline.
Plus, he admits: “It makes me feel slightly better about my hair thinning and stuff and getting grey in my beard, because if anyone’s got any problem with it I can go, ‘Well, I’m a f***ing grandad’.”
“We’re all excited,” he adds. “In January everyone’s lives change.”
Danny admits feeling “a little bit anxious” about Dani giving birth. “How traumatic,” he winces.
