Amanda Holden has called Simon Cowell a “fighter” as he continues to recover from breaking his back two months ago.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 49, reached out to her pal on live TV earlier today as she spoke to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

The trio discussed how Simon, 61, broke his back in August after falling off his electric bike, and underwent a six-hour operation.

Since the incident, he has been recovering at his Malibu home with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their six-year-old son Eric.

Giving an update on Simon, Amanda explained: “He looked okay but I know from talking regularly to Lauren, you have and I have, this has been a pretty tough few weeks for him, hasn’t it?

“Yeah, without a doubt. The best way to say it is, Lauren’s always saying it to me, it’s his will to get better is extraordinary.”

She added: “I think he’s very determined. He’s a fighter, we know that Piers.

“And there’s no way that he’ll want to be seen to be failing or not be getting better as fast as he can.”

Simon was recently forced to miss the Britain’s Got Talent final as he was “too ill”, which meant Diversity star Ashley Banjo replaced his spot on the panel.

But Amanda explained he will be back on the show next year once he has fully recovered, saying: “So I know we’ll see him next year.”

More recently, a source close to the star admitted he has been pushing himself to walk again and wants to be fit and well for 2021.

His pal exclusively told us: “He is walking a lot and swimming and feeling great – but focusing on being on top form for 2021.”

At the time of the incident, Simon shared an update to Twitter fans.

He wrote: “Some good advice… If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.

“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone. Simon.”

The entertainment mogul was seen for the first time on his ex and close friend Terri Seymour’s Instagram Stories yesterday as he celebrated turning 61.

The group sang to Simon before he blew out the candles on his cake, accompanied by Eric and Lauren.
