Lewis Capaldi has temporarily moved to London, according to reports.

The singer-songwriter, 24, who lives at home in Scotland with his parents, arrived in central London on Friday and was seen out with some pals.

In snaps taken of the star he can be seen outside a bar in the capital toting a silver suitcase.

At one point he snapped selfies and later on he was seen chatting with some police officers.

An onlooker who saw the Someone You Love hitmaker and his friends told The Sun that Lewis was “joking about having to come to London to have a drink” at the Corinthia Hotel, after Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon closed pubs in Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran, Lothian and Forth Valley.

Lewis’ choice to come down south is also reportedly to be part of his preparation to launch new music.

A source also explained to the publication: “Lewis spent lockdown writing at home in Scotland for his next record. Now he’s got the task of finishing what he started.

“He’s booked himself into a hotel and will spend a fortnight putting pen to paper with top producers.”

Lewis will be able to write about fresh heartache as his romance with student girlfriend Catherine Halliday recently ended.

The star had been dating the 21-year-old student – who is said to be the daughter of a millionaire architect – for seven months but the romance was unable to survive through lockdown.

Lewis and Catherine decided to call quits on their relationship, however, after realising now is not the time to settle down.

The couple had met after being introduced by mutual friends at the start of the year and were spotted out on a date at a pizzeria in his hometown of West Lothian before lockdown began in March.

The pair are believed to have kept in touch throughout lockdown – although they isolated apart as they stayed with their respective families.

But now the relationship is all over, with a source telling The Sun on Sunday: “Lewis has no hard feelings towards Catherine and they’re still amicable but they decided it was best to call it a day.

“He’s at the beginning of his career, with a lot of opportunity at his fingertips, so it’s not the right time to settle down.
