Mariah Carey has revealed her son Moroccan was bullied by a white supremacist, who he believed was his friend.
The singer, 50, got emotional as she opened up about her children while speaking to host Andy Cohen on his show Watch What Happens Live.
As she spoke about her new memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, she touched on the recent ordeal her son, who is nine, has faced.
The mum-of-two admitted: “Rocky [Moroccan] just got bullied the other day by a white supremacist person that he thought was his friend.
“It’s like, insane. This is the world we live in.”
Mariah shares her son and daughter Monroe, nine, with her ex-husband Nick Cannon, who she divorced in 2016.
Mariah also opened up about her own experiences
growing up biracial.
She explained: “It’s been a struggle for me since I was aware that there was such a thing as race.
“And the only reason I was aware so early on was because it became a subject of humiliation for me as a child.”
The songstress is also trying to teach her children about racism by reading books to them.
The star continued: “I’m reading chapters to them that are helping to illustrate my encounters with racism, and how they can then have a greater understanding, and ultimately a greater reservoir with which to deal with the situation itself.”
Mariah has been shedding some insight into her life after releasing her new memoir.
She spoke to the Guardian about her ex-fiancé James Packer and why she did not mention him in her new book.
Mariah explained: “If it was a relationship that mattered, it’s in the book. If not, it didn’t occur.
“We didn’t have a physical relationship, to be honest with you.”
The former couple started dating in 2015 and were engaged nine months later, before they split in 2018.
