Piers Morgan has hit out at a rival breakfast host Dan Walker in an entertaining social media spat on Thursday.
The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter was having none of it when the BBC rival spoke publicly about their soaring audience ratings.
The awkward Twitter run-in began after BBC editor Richard Frediani expressed his joy at the BBC Breakfast ratings.
“Another day of @BBCBreakfast dominating morning TV. More viewers throughout the key 8am hour. A peak audience at 44.4% and 2.13 million – nearly a million ahead of any other show,” the editor penned.
The sentiment was reiterated by Dan Walker, who appeared to make a cheeky dig at ITV’s Good Morning Britain in the process.
The presenter wrote: “Great news from the boss of #BBCBreakfast Good to know the show is so popular despite stiff competition from ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ and ‘Paw Patrol’ Thanks for watching.”

Piers quickly penned a comeback in defence of Good Morning Britain.
“Here’s the real news: Yesterday, @GMB was UP by a massive 47% in viewers year-on-year (& 37% in audience share). You guys @BBCBreakfast were down by 9% (& 2% in share). The stats don’t lie, Daniel. Looks like Everybody Loves Piers & Susanna!”
The often outspoken television presenter then took a final swipe at Richard.
He added in a second tweet: “Hi mate, given you joined them a year ago, do you have the comparative year-on-year numbers for both shows for this week, so everyone can see the magical Frediani effect on ratings? #Awks.”
Just a day ago, Piers had gloated even more about the ITV figures.
He wrote on social media: “BREAKING: Massive ratings for @gmb yesterday. 2nd highest in show’s history & UP by 28% year-on-year, with poor old @bbcbreakfast DOWN by 2%. Thanks for watching!”
He shared the caption alongside a picture of himself cheering while on set.
Despite his joy, some followers weren’t too impressed and one fan even wrote that they had started switching GMB off.
