Michael McIntyre is missing comedy so much that he’s taken to the streets to perform for strangers.
Despite his well-meaning offer of comedy relief, the funny man has admitted a number of passers-by have been left rather unimpressed by his chatty behaviour.
The 44-year-old comedian has irked fans by talking too much when they approach him for a photograph.
Michael revealed that since lockdown began, he’s been longing to get back on the stage to hear a room full of people erupt into laughter.
Desperate to share his famous wit, his street comedy set isn’t quite the hit because he gets too wound up chatting to his fans halfway through the gags.
Lifting the lid on his new normal, Michael admitted that he’s been ‘latching on’ to his fans for meaningful conversations amid the current chaos.
Speaking on Jessie Ware’s podcast Table Manners, the star revealed: “I’ve found myself just latching on to people.
“Anyone in the street who comes over to me and wants to say ‘Hi’ – from a distance – I just won’t let them go.
“They’ll ask for a photo and then I’ll just keep talking so much that by the end of it they’re like, ‘OK, listen, I’ve really got to get on.'”
It’s got so bad that some unimpressed fans have even resorted to deleting photos they have taken with the comedian because his constant nattering bothered them so much.
Michael joked: “I actually saw one woman delete the photo that she’d asked to take.”
Although he’s missing his stage presence, it’s safe to say that Michael’s fortune hasn’t dwindled as a result of the pandemic.
At the start of the summer, the comedian celebrated his wealth rocketing to over £75million by buying a mega-money new home.
The comedian purchased another London pad, which reportedly set him back a cool £10million.
Michael has money burning a hole in his pocket after the BBC’s biggest comedy star agreed to perform his stand-up show on Netflix.
In a deal thought to be worth millions, the 44-year-old has signed up after an offer he couldn’t turn down.
A source revealed: “Netflix believe that Michael’s shock move will mark a huge demand for British comedy in their division this year.”
