Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood is postponing his wedding due to coronavirus.
The dancing guru, 55, has been engaged to fiance Jonathan Myring, 35, since March and has revealed that the event will take a “couple of years to plan” as he does not want a “Covid wedding”.
At present in the UK no more than 15 people can legally attend a marriage or civil partnership, even where this can be safely accommodated with social distancing in a Covid-secure venue, in a bid to stop the virus from spreading.
And revealing that TV star does not want an intimate affair, he told the Daily Mail: “I want it to be big and fun, not a Covid wedding with five people there. It’ll take a couple of years to plan but we’re not in a rush.”
Proving that the BBC personality is willing to splash the cash on his big day, he added: “Then I’d love to jet off to the Maldives, then perhaps return to Tasmania [where his husband-to-be proposed] on our honeymoon.”
And Craig’s also suggested that he and Jonathan could be expanding their family, by continuing: “I’m not ruling out kids, but I’m 55 and I’ll be 56 in January. I’m getting a bit long in the tooth. Having said that, Elton John managed it, so why not? Never say never.”
Craig and Jonathan met on dating app Tinder and the Strictly sensation recently shared on their time in lockdown.
“We got engaged in Australia, and then as soon as we got home the country went into lockdown and we couldn’t leave the house,” he told Mirror Online.
“It was either going to go well or go badly, and luckily enough it went fantastically well, we really like each other’s company. A lot of people only move in with each other after they’re married, then you get the shock of your life when you realise you can’t live with that person. It’s possible to love someone intensely yet not be able to live with them.”
Craig – whose previous marriage to wife Jane 30 years ago collapsed acrimoniously after just two-and-a-half years – added: “Most of all, we learned to give each other space, which I don’t think happened in the last one.”
Sharing on his love for Jonathan, he continued: “I could never really see myself remarrying, but this feels right. It feels like the right time, and I fancy sharing my life, and the rest of my life, with Jonathan. Everything feels perfect.”
