Kat Von D has revealed she went to the same “torturous” boarding school for troubled teens as Paris Hilton.

Paris, 39, has claimed she suffered daily physical and mental abuse when she spent 11 months as a student at Provo Canyon School in Utah, which changed ownership in 2000.

Now Kat, 38, has revealed she was sent there aged 15, and said she had a similar experience in a video posted to Instagram, comparing it to being “kidnapped and locked up in an institution”.

Like Paris, she claimed she remembers being woken up in the middle of the night and forcefully taken to the institution.

The tattoo artist said: “I was sleeping… and the door opens and there are these two big dudes and a pretty athletic-built woman standing at the door telling me to calm down and to get dressed and that we would be leaving.

“And if I didn’t do what they say I would have to choose the hard way, which was getting handcuffed.”

She claimed she was “blindfolded” and “strip searched” and called it “the most traumatic six months of my life”.

Kat also said she witnessed physical and sexual abuse and claimed students who “acted out” would be put in a strait jacket.

To cope with her trauma she says she started “drinking bottles and bottles of whiskey” and blames it for her history of addiction.

It comes after Paris spoke about her alleged experience in her documentary This Is Paris.

She claimed that staff at the school would hit and attempt to strangle students, as well as keeping them in solitary confinement and placing them in restraints when they were seen to have misbehaved.

Paris told People magazine: “From the moment I woke up until I went to bed, it was all day screaming in my face, yelling at me, continuous torture.”

She added: “The staff would say terrible things. They were constantly making me feel bad about myself and bully me.

“I think it was their goal to break us down. And they were physically abusive, hitting and strangling us. They wanted to instill fear in the kids so we’d be too scared to disobey them.”

Provo Canyon is no longer run by the same firm in charge when Kat and Paris were at school.

A spokesperson for the school previously said: “Originally opened in 1971, Provo Canyon School was sold by its previous ownership in August 2000.
