Holly Willoughby has defended Dolly Parton’s proposed Playboy shoot, where the 9 To 5 singer is set to strip naked for the magazine’s front cover.

The This Morning presenter, 39, was joined by guests Matthew Wright and Julia Hartley-Brewer on Monday’s segment of the show.

Their chat changed from current affairs to something more light-hearted when Phil touched on recent news that Dolly, who is 74, has agreed to pose for lads mag Playboy for her 75th birthday.

It marks a whole 48 years after her first shoot for the racy magazine in October 1978.

Holly voiced her support for the star, admitting everyone should be “celebrating” her move.

However her guests didn’t quite agree, with Matthew insisting it’s a “shame” that Dolly is going to pose for Playboy.

She quickly interrupted the guests and argued it was an empowering way for older women to embrace their bodies and show off their confidence.

“Is it not a way of celebrating?” she quizzed.

But Julia also agreed with Matthew, as she added: “I’d want to be remembered for that [her music] rather than celebrating my body in a tawdry magazine.

“This message is going out all time to teenage girls, ‘if you’re confident you should strip off’. Men don’t do this. Why do women think they have to do this?

“Good on Dolly if she’s got the body after, let’s face it, an awful lot of surgery. Why does anyone want to see it and why does anyone want to do it?”

It didn’t stop there as Holly argued back with Julia and defended the singer’s choice to pose for Playboy once again.

She explained: “I want to see it because I think it’s very celebratory and also I don’t think it’s the only way she’s celebrating her age, it’s one of the ways. It’s part of a bigger thing. She’s got a lot more to her.”

Speaking at the weekend on the Scott Mills & Chris Stark show on Radio 5 Live, Dolly said she would appear on the magazine if it was in “good taste”.

Scott asked Dolly if it was true that she was “planning to star on the cover of Playboy magazine” to mark her 75th birthday.

She answered: “Yeah, I just might do it, if I can do it in good taste and they want it [and] we’ll do it along with a really good interview inside. So, yeah, we’ve talked about it.”
