Tommy Lee Says He Was Drinking Gallons Of Vodka Before His Latest Rehab Stint

Tommy Lee, the drummer for Motley Crue, was reportedly in a bad place last year just before his rehabilitation for substance abuse. Tommy recently had a conversation with Yahoo Entertainment where he touched on his struggles with alcohol.

The star admitted that he was drinking gallons of vodka every day in 2019 until he realized he had to go to rehab. The drummer claimed his new bride was worried she would wake up one morning to discover he had died.

The 58-year-old performing artist said he realized one day that he had to stop and according to Lee, his drinking problem had become “f*cking insane.” Apparently, Tommy’s drinking had spiraled out of control to the point that he would wake up in the morning and start drinking vodka with the tiniest amount of cranberry and lemonade.

Amid his basement studio interview, Tommy explained he had been drinking “two gallons” rather than pints or quarts per day. This all came after four years of sobriety as well, and Tommy admits he realized he was going to die if he kept it up.

Tommy is currently married to the 34-year-old, Brittany Furlan – who he tied the knot with on Valentine’s Day last year – and Tommy says she was very worried about him. The drummer claims she told him that she had never seen someone drink so much alcohol and she was legitimately concerned for his life.

In fact, Lee conceded her anxiety about his substance abuse problem is precisely what inspired him to make a change. Thankfully, the drummer noted, he hasn’t had any lasting health effects from it nor the other drugs he did over the years.

Fans of Lee know he played drums in one of the biggest bands of the 1980s, and the group was notorious for their hard-partying lifestyle. Their career was the subject of the Netflix movie, The Dirt, starring Machine Gun Kelly (aka Colson Baker).

Reportedly, the band was just one of many who had to postpone their reunion tour on account of the pandemic, however, they plan to get back out on the road next year.
