Strictly’s Shirley Ballas says she had breast implants ‘to save marriage’

Shirley Ballas has said she had breast implants in a bid to save her second marriage.

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge, 60, who had her DD breast implants removed in 2019, has discussed having the enhancement done whilst being married to ex husband Corky Ballas.

Dancing star Shirley and Texan ballroom star Corky were married between 1985 and 2007 and they share a 34-year-old son, Mark.

Shirley has opened up about the reason she initially had her bust enlarged and alleged it was down to her ex-husband’s controlling behavior.

She told The Mail on Sunday’ s You magazine: “I thought ‘This is a man who really loves me.’ Little did I know.

“He had multiple girlfriends, even when I moved to America. I gave up my life for that man.’

“He’d say ‘You’re too fat. What’s that mole on your chin? Your nose is crooked, you need a nose job. Your breasts are too small.’

“I had breast implants done to try to save my marriage. It was the sorriest day of my life.”

The brunette and second husband Corky met when they were in their early 20s at a competition in Canada.

As well as spending their homelife together, the pair also worked together – training and taking part in competitions – and Corky admitted in 2017 that it took its toll on their marriage.

“We would argue every single day. We could have a blazing row and come out on the dancefloor, and you could never tell,” he shared.

Last year, Shirley went under the knife in a gruelling operation to remove her augmentation after a potentially dangerous capsule had grown unexpectedly.

She made the choice to revert to her natural A cup boobs because of a risk of cancer in her family.

Shirley admitted to The Sun: “When I saw my little boobies, I thought, ‘There she is’. They’re lovely. They’re all a bit swollen but I’m pleased with the breast lift he gave me. And now I’m in the process of learning to love myself after all those years.”
