Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman says “I see Meat Loaf when I look in the mirror”

EXCLUSIVE: Strictly Come Dancing host jokes she sees the Bat Out Of Hell singer staring at her when she looks in the mirror and says she like to look like she’s slept in ‘a skip’

Claudia Winkleman, we don’t know who you are but you reckon you’re a real dead ringer for Meat Loaf.

The Strictly Come Dancing host jokes that when she sees herself in a full-length mirror the hulking American Bat Out Of Hell singer stares back at her.

Petite 5ft 5in Claudia, 48, explained: “We don’t have a full-length mirror. But if I stay at places I will often look up and go, ‘Why is Meat Loaf here!’

“I’ve interviewed him once but I don’t know him. Why is he in my room moving like I am?”

Meat, born Marvin Lee Aday, once tipped the scales at 19st although the 73-year-old is now 14st, which he credits to being a vegetarian.

Claudia, the face of Head and Shoulders shampoo who earns about £370,000 a year at the BBC, said she did not care about cultivating a glamorous image as she approaches her 50s.

She said: “I don’t want to get old gracefully. I don’t want a twin set. I never want to look polite.

“I want to look like I’ve slept in a skip. That is the whole point of me.

“I just worked out what I want to look like – like I’ve slept in gravy.’

Claudia, speaking on a podcast, added: “I feel sort of 72. Even though my face is falling off, my stomach is a disgrace, my knees are now wholly made of crepe, I love getting older.

“I can’t wait for 50. I loved 40. My 40s have been excellent. And I think 50s will be even better. And 60s, better than that.”
