Lana Del Rey slammed after she wears mesh face mask to poetry book signing event

Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has faced backlash after wearing a mesh face mask for a fan book signing event for her poetry book Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass

Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has been slammed for wearing a mesh face mask at a fan book signing event.

The Venice B***h singer, 35, real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, donned a sparkly fishnet face mask for the event at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles on Friday.

Lana was promoting her new poetry book Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass at the fan meet-and-greet event.

The glamorous star, whose blonde locks were swept back for the event, sat in a cordoned off area to read excerpts of her poetry.

The singer later appeared to pose for photos for fans whilst wearing the glamorous face mask which clearly had holes in the front.

She previously donned a similar one for the cover of Interview magazine in September.

Lana’s younger sister and photographer Caroline ‘Chuck’ Grant recorded the event on Instagram with a live feed, but the comments on the footage from fans were quick to complain about her sister’s face mask during the Covid-19 pandemic.

One person commented: “”LANA WEARING A MESH MASK TO AN EVENT FOR HER POETRY WTF So irresponsible.”

Meanwhile, a different follower wrote: “Why is she at an event with a bunch of people wearing a mesh mask??? I love Lana but this is incredibly irresponsible.”

Finally, one Lana fan commented: “Lana is a grown woman and we shouldn’t tell her what to do BUT wearing #that mask is dangerous for her and for others…It’s very irresponsible.”

However, Chuck was quick to jump to her sister’s defence, noting that she kept her distance from fans and had tested negative for Covid-19 prior to the event.

Chuck penned: “She’s more than six feet away and she tested negative, so chill.”

Elsewhere, another fan argued that the mask had a clear secondary layer beneath the mesh.

They penned: “Guys, the mask has a translucent layer underneath the mesh. Calm down.”

Finally, mirroring Chuck’s words, another fan account on Twitter noted: “Lana Del Rey’s sister Chuck confirms that Lana was more than 6ft away from other people at the event (a few fans sadly broke the social distancing rule as she was leaving) and she is also tested NEGATIVE for COVID-19!”.

Mirror Online has reached out to representatives of Lana Del Rey for comment, while she has yet to comment publicly on the matter.

Lana’s book of poetry, Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass, was released on hardback on September 29, 2020.

Fans of the singer are currently awaiting the release of her seventh studio album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club.

The album, originally titled White Hot Forever, was due for release in September but has now been pushed back.

Lana released her previous album Norman F***ing Rockwell last year.
