Piers Morgan isn’t one to hide his true feelings, and his latest Twitter rant took aim at delivery service Uber Eats.
Good Morning Britain host Piers had ordered McDonald’s on the app – which picks his food up from the restaurant and takes it to his address.
But Piers, who got a full refund from the service, was left disgruntled after waiting at least an hour for his Big Mac – and when it did arrive, he said his drink had soaked his food.
“Ordered a Big Mac via @UberEats an hour ago,” he tweeted to his legions of followers.
“ETA was ’20 minutes’.
“Now spent past 40 minutes watching my delivery rider waltz his way around West London. He’s currently further away than when he picked it up. My burger’s not going to be hot, is it? Or even f**king lukewarm.”
It did eventually arrive, Piers sharing a snap of his burger and fries.
He wrote: “UPDATE: Cold, congealed & covered in Coke Zero which had leaked everywhere during the round-the-world transit. Nice job @Uber eats_uk !”
But Piers wasn’t done, asking in a follow-up tweet if Uber Eats was being run by Dido Harding, the chair of the NHS’ much-criticised Covid track and trace system.
Dividing opinion with his latest tweet-fest, some of Piers followers criticised the outspoken journalist.
“Are you seriously complaining about a Big Mac delivery? Imagine being so privileged,” one wrote.
Piers came back: “Hard to imagine a less privileged thing to be doing…”
Another scolded: “Just go and order it from a McDonalds like a normal person.”
But Piers was having none of it, replying with a tongue-in-cheek: “Like a WHAT?”
Still, he admitted he scoffed down the burger and fries because he was “that desperate.”
A third commented: “It’s Downton Abbey 21st century style, when it gets your goat that underpaid gig economy workers just don’t deliver the goods and you are worth millions of pounds.”
Again, Piers couldn’t help but reply, snapping back that he was irked that a huge company like Uber hadn’t been able to get his food to him on time.
Though he went on to say he got a refund from the delivery man and a sincere apology.
Piers’ vendettas have become the stuff of legend, renowned in recent months for taking the government to task over their handling of the coronavirus crisis.
He’s decried its conduct as a disaster and even claimed Cabinet ministers are “boycotting” GMB to avoid his notoriously brutal cross examinations.
