OVERVIEW
Diane, who’s from Senegal, is a two-time Big West Conference Player of the Year for Cal State-Northridge.
He racked up 24.8 points per game as a redshirt freshman and then 25.6 points as a sophomore, despite sitting out a semester due to an NCAA ruling on his academics. He reached the 30-point mark in seven of 19 games during the past season.
Diane had double-digit rebounding averages both years as well.
He makes the most of his 6-foot-7 frame, at times overpowering opponents.
ANALYSIS
He’ll turn 23 years old in November, so the prime of his draft period is beginning to close. This seems like the ideal time for him to jump into the draft fray.
His overall body of work is a bit limited, considering his 1 ½ college seasons. He shows signs of being a natural wing.
He played in college for coach Mark Gottfried, who’s familiar with grooming draft choices while at Alabama and North Carolina State. Diane did a good share of his scoring in the post when he was bigger than defenders. To be successful in the NBA, he’ll need to improve on his perimeter offense. There are also hints that his offensive discipline might not be where it needs to be for the NBA, given his tendency to freelance as the go-to player for Cal State-Northridge.
His defense might transfer well to the pro level, particularly if his determination as a rebounder is an accurate indicator.
