Little Mix stars Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall have broken their silence after Jesy Nelson revealed that she was leaving the band for good.
Jesy’s bandmates took to social media moments after the 29-year-old star confirmed that she was stepping away from the band as it took a ‘toll on her mental health’.
Writing from the group’s joint Instagram account, Leigh-Anne, Perrie and Jade said that they were “incredibly sad” to see Jesy go.
In the heartfelt statement, that the girls shared with their 13.5 million Instagram followers, Little Mix also added that they were “fully supportive” of Jesy’s decision to leave.
They also confirmed that Little Mix will continue without Jesy because they are ‘not ready’ for their music journey to be over.
Alongside the lengthy message, the girls shared a stunning black and white image that featured the four singers beaming from ear to ear in a candid moment.
“After an amazing 9 years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix,” the band wrote.
“This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy. We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being.
“We are still very much enjoying our Little Mix journey and the 3 of us are not ready for it to be over.
“We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us.
“We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour. Love always, Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne xxx,” the band concluded.
There has been an outpouring of messages on social media as loyal Little Mix fans expressed their support for Jesy Nelson after she confirmed that she was leaving the band.
In a moving statement, Jesy admitted that the band had ‘taken a toll on her mental health’ and she was stepping away to focus on spending time with her loved ones.
“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,” she said in the message.
“There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin the process.
Little Mix fans around the world have flocked to social media to praise Jesy for her 9-year contribution to the band and wish her well.
